DV screen systems are externally fixed in a vertical position, like a sluice gate, to a sheet piling element and are continuously immersed in the water. The extraneous solids are retained by the perforated screen plate and conveyed back into the river in the downstream direction by the slowly rotating brushes, while the cleaned water flows through the DV screen into the intake structure. From there, it is generally routed to a second water-preparation stage and used as industrial or municipal process water.
