The “fish screen” in paper production

We call it Fish Screen:
The screen for the preservation of fish

We take part of our process water, which we need for the production of our paper, from the Buschfelder Sieltief.

In 2018 we were informed that due to a new permit according to §8BiFisch, it is mandatory that we ensure that no fish or other living creatures up to a specified size are sucked in by our pumps. And so eventually make their way into our water treatment system.

In 2018, while searching for a suitable product, we came across the company nrw-Anlagentechnik, among others. We were suggested to integrate the nrw contec screen type BV (river water extraction) into our intake station. The technology and cost-effectiveness of the screen finally convinced us.

In 2019, we received approval and the project was implemented. Since commissioning, the screen has been running absolutely trouble-free in 24/7 continuous operation.

We affectionately call it the “Fish Screen”.
